For a HOG game, June's Journey has an amazing amount of detail. Each scenery — be it a European-style café, lavish orangerie, madly cluttered room, ramshackle shack, or a bizarre post office with a spiral staircase — is artfully designed and saturated with color and atmosphere.

You'll also get to enjoy the looks of a luxurious island that you build yourself. Over time, June will add extra decorations — fountains, arches, cypress trees — to unlock new island locations and make them even posher.

June visits her sister's estate to find out that she and her husband are dead. The police barely take any legal action, even though June's niece Virginia is dead sure it was an obvious murder.

Investigating the whole clamor and restoring justice is up to you. This involves hunting for clues carefully hidden in a chaotic mess of other things and trinkets. A cigar butt, a half-eaten sandwich, silver pendant, drawer key, and so forth. It takes a lot of focus to spot them amidst a diabolic clutter.

June can use power-ups called hints. They come in a meager supply and mustn't be wasted. Apart from them, you'll also need Coins, Compasses, Materials, and Character Cards to progress successfully. They can be earned by beating a level quickly.

June's Journey is easy to control. Tap on an object, character, or an option to trigger a certain action. Although time-limited events make controls a bit tougher as you risk mistapping a lot.

If you want to complete June's Journey, especially for free, you'll have to play it every day for a few months. A level abundance coupled with a puny supply of free power-ups and resources makes it a tough game to beat overnight.

Overall

June's Journey is hellishly captivating. But its free game limitations are rather severe. You will have to wait a few days before you amass enough Compasses or Materials to continue playing. And IAPs in JJ can be as costly as $90.
